Day 11: Heading Home – First Stop Austin

Goodbye Alabama, it has been a blast!

Cooper woke up extra early this morning so we thought we would maximize the scenario and get our days’ flights started early too.

In Montgomery we looked at some flight paths to get us home.  There are not a lot of major cities in a direct path home so we opted to stay a little south and make our next destination Austin, Texas.  The halfway stop was Alexandria, Louisiana and one of the best small airports we stopped at on the trip.  This airport provided us with the cheapest fuel and lunch we experienced the entire trip.  Cooper loved crawling around the modern FBO and we enjoyed a huge handmade cheeseburger, chips and piece of pumpkin pie for only $1!  Apparently we were enjoying the experience so much we forgot to take pictures.

Our destination was the Austin Executive Airport.  It was kind of cool how they have a carport area similar to in front of a hotel, but this one is big enough for planes to fit and enable us to unpack in the shade.

During our quick overnight tour of Austin we spent a little time driving around downtown, enjoyed a delicious Mexican happy hour dinner and wrapped up the tour at Barton Springs Pool.
