December, 2013:

28 Weeks – Heavy Weight

Little Bro and I are now the proud owners of the heavy weight title in the Kochman house. ¬†We officially passed Daddy on the scale and it will only be going up from here ūüôā ¬†I am happy to report that I passed the glucose test so the holidays will continue to be cheerful for us ūüėČ ¬†My iron level is a little low so I will need to add a supplement to my diet. ¬†This was true with Cooper’s pregnancy too. ¬†I am still feeling fantastic, but have noticed an increase in sighs and grunts as I work through basic tasks like getting up off the floor… ¬† The belly is definitely starting to take on a beach ball type shape. ¬†It will be interesting to see how things change as Cooper gets faster and I get slower in the coming months. ¬†We did order more door and cabinet locks to help give me at least a chance at keeping him out of trouble.

Rum, Bum, Bum

Cooper’s favorite activity, by far, is getting rides on Daddy’s back. ¬†If Daddy is home you can hear a “rum, bum, bum” request coming from one little man the entire time. ¬†He even follows the request with a “please” so it is very hard for Daddy to say no. ¬†Daddy is also showing off one of Cooper’s favorite looks the “stink eyes.”

I Get Mad When My Mama Dresses Me Like This

Reality is that when it is near the end of the night or before breakfast I only change what is critical due to wetness or messiness and let the rest ride for a couple of more hours ūüôā ¬†Many may think these awesome outfits are picked out by Daddy, but in our house Mama needs to fess up to these outfit eyesores.

Cooper has been really good about leaving everything on the Christmas tree, so far.  He does have a few favorite ornaments that he likes to move around.  He was really proud to discover that this frog ornament, made by his great grandmother, fits so nicely on the stove handle.

18 Months

Cooper is at such a great age right now.  He soaks up everything going on around him and loves to mimic us.  He is very busy and loves to explore everywhere.

Height: 35.71 in. (99%)

Weight: 31 lbs. 6oz. (96%)

Head Circumference: 20.51 in. (100%)

Developments: Cooper loves to be outside when the weather permits and the highlight of any day is a day that we get to walk to go meet Daddy at the bus stop. ¬†He smiles, points and says Daddy as soon as he sees him. ¬†When we tell him to get ready to go he will walk over to the laundry room on his own and pick out his shoes to have us put on. ¬†Most of his words are still only words that his parents can understand, but he is definitely trying out new sounds and enjoys chatting even if no one understands. ¬†He is slowly starting into the independence stage by throwing his milk bottle when he is done eating, followed with an “uh oh.” ¬†Cooper loves his swim lessons with his Daddy and is getting more and more comfortable in the water.

Routine: He takes a couple hour nap in the afternoon a few days a week, but he can also take a 20 minutes power nap in the car and be up for the day when he decides.  If the stats are right, it is probably growing an inch a month that makes our little guy a sleepy one.  He now usually has a morning snack since he is napping so much longer in the afternoon.  We give him whole milk with breakfast, dinner and just before bed.  The doctor did hesitate for a second about keeping him on whole milk until 2 (due to his size), but said it is the guidance so we should stick with it.

Milestones: Unfortunately this month also marked Cooper’s third visit to the hospital, this time for a chipped tooth. ¬†We are still torn on what to do for his tooth, but have postponed any surgeries until later in January giving us time to think about it some more. ¬†Cooper is still cutting in 6 teeth at the same time, the top 2 molars and all 4 canine teeth.

Preparing for Winter

Digging out the snow boots and hat during this chilly spell.  It is important that we still make it on our daily walk to the mailbox as much as possible.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

To kick off this year’s celebration we made Daddy a “Rum, Bum, Bum” cake. ¬†This was followed in the evening by our annual trip to the Issaquah Rogue brewery with family and friends.

Oh Christmas Tree

We returned from Tucson on Monday and picked up our tree from the next day. ¬†It has become a tradition to venture just a few blocks down the hill to pick up our tree from our local McLendon’s hardware store. ¬†This year Daddy had a supervisor to help him fit the tree into the stand.

After the tree was set-up in the house Cooper had some smooches for Mama.

Tucson Fun Times

Callin’ the Ladies

Our last full day in town before heading home the kids enjoyed playing together, celebrating Daddy’s birthday and letting the ladies have some time away. ¬†The full set of pictures from our trip are posted here.

Trying out a new backpack and Christmas present from Auntie Kari and Uncle Brant

Thank you again to the Robertson family for hosting everyone and even giving up their bedroom for our family!  It is so much fun to get everyone together, I just wished we all lived a little closer so we could make it happen more often.  We always leave missing them even more than the last time.  Fortunately, with Skype, these cousins will grow up knowing each other even if it is through a computer screen.
