25 Weeks: Drilling

At this point, the books say that BK can hear sounds, and if you have a dog or something loud in your environment they should grow comfortable with the sound even before they are born. Rob and I realize we are very quiet people, but this week I have found the “loud” noise BK will learn to have as background noise. We are doing the annual inspection on the airplane, and my part has been taking off all the inspection panels and soon putting them back on, once Rob completes the inspection. This means hours of BK hearing the drill as I take off and put back on hundreds of screws. BK is already a great sport, especially for some of the tighter quarters I put him in to get to all the access panels 🙂 I am still feeling really good and haven’t noticed any cravings, but have found that I eat all day long and usually eat a much smaller meal at dinner because I am so full at that point.

24 Weeks: Crib

This week we had our 24 week doctor appointment (only our 3rd one so far) and found out everything is still looking great. About baby: He is ~1.5lbs now and 12″ long from head to rump, he is constantly moving and Rob can feel him kicking him in the back when I spoon him. I try to make sure he gets to experience as much of the movement as possible 🙂 About me: They say my belly is the size of the soccer ball now and that is exactly what it looks like. I was measuring 25cm and they look for a cm per week, so I am on target. Unfortunately, I also learned at this appointment that I should not fly again in our airplane until after the baby arrives due to the placement of the seatbelt buckle over my belly. I am pretty bummed I won’t get to fly, but know it is not worth the risk. I am up 15lbs so far. I have noticed that my pace when walking is slowing down and I have a few more restless nights, but overall no complaints as this little guy has been very easy on me. This week Rob was out of town for work, but we were able to sneak in some time to build the crib before he left. It is fun to have a crib in the baby room, and we should have the dresser and closet organizer in place by the end of March. Yes, if you were wondering if the walls are purple, they are 🙂 Rob and I both really liked how cheerful this wall color already was as our guest room and decided it would be the perfect color to keep the walls now that it is the baby’s room.

23 Weeks – Preparation

This week Rob and I hit Babiesrus, again. This time we got through our first attempt at registering; we both were exhausted after that 2.5 hour adventure. Now that we have placeholder items, we need to go back and read reviews and actually decide which specific brand or type of items and if it will be on our Amazon or Babiesrus registry. What we also learned is that everything is always on sale at Babiesrus and you just have to play the coupons right when making purchases. This week we ordered a crib which looks similar to this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4358801&cp=2255957.2273443.3561177.3561191&green I am attempting to build up my “cool mom” status with a new Ju Ju Be diaper bag ($140 on their website and only $40 at Costco) while still picking a pattern that is practical for hiding dirt: http://www.amazon.com/Ju-Be-Diaper-Marvelous-Mums/dp/B003UERR3G/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1329162599&sr=1-2 Finally, this week I have started wearing maternity shirts in addition to maternity pants. I feel very lucky to have friends that let me borrow their clothes so I simply had to go “shopping” in their donation bins and fold up my old clothes to make room in the closet until summer.
