November, 2015:

A Bit Chilly

These boys love to dig and be outside like their Mama.  Today we may have been pushing our luck.  It was in the 20s and they are both wearing many layers of jackets, pants and socks, but the chill set in after 20 minutes or so of playing and we had to head home.

21 Months

Nicholas is really starting to let his goofy side shine through.  If you ask for a Cooper cheese smile this is what you get from Nicholas.  He has mastered it!

A highlight is when Jan, the house cleaner, comes every other week.  Nicholas can’t wait to get his hands on the Swiffer.  He is now resisting taking a nap until he knows she has left and there is no more opportunity to clean.  Speaking of sleeping.  I was reading back on the blog about Cooper at this age and how we used to look at him sleeping every night before we went to bed.  I got that warm fuzzy feeling and couldn’t believe we had not been doing that with Nicholas.  After Nicholas woke up and started crying for 15 minutes 3 of the 5 nights we went to look at him we decided it wasn’t the best idea after all.  We are now starting to check on Cooper again since he stayed asleep during our trial week, but it just proves again that Nicholas is a very light sleeper like his Grandpa.

This month we learned that Nicholas loves shrimp (read ate 15 large shrimp at dinner before even touching pasta) and pomegranate (read consumes in 1 cup increments at snack time and asks for more).

First time eating shrimp and pomegranate, first haircut with Daddy, first vision and hearing tests.

Family Haircut

After a very successful solo first haircut with both boys and a complete flop solo second haircut with both boys I called in the reinforcements.  It worked out perfectly, I got in some black Friday shopping and then Daddy met me at the salon with the boys.  It went swimmingly and the boys loved Auntie Di Di cutting their hair in Daddy’s lap.

All cleaned up with their new hairdos and ready to take on the world or at least harass a Christmas tree.

Half or Double

Today marks the one time in their lives that Nicholas will be exactly half Cooper’s age/Cooper is double Nicholas’ age.  It is really crazy to think that Cooper was Nicholas’ age when Nicholas was born.  We felt like he was so much older and now Nicholas seems so little.  Stop growing boys!

Flight to Friday Harbor

Nicholas is not a big fan of wearing a headset right now, but once we are in the air the drone of the engine seems to do the sleepy trick.  We try to go flying every two weeks or so and make it a family trip as often as we can.

It was a really chilly day, but the sun was out and exploring this island was really fun.

Cooper couldn’t talk enough about all the boats we were seeing at the dock.

Someone has headset hair and is in need of a haircut

We are floored by how much Cooper absorbs about flying.  He watches Daddy and is eager to learn to do it all himself.

Mashruwala Buddies

We love our West Seattle buddies the Mashruwala family.  Our gatherings now include 5 kids and a whole lot of fun.

You Can Learn How to Do Anything on the Internet

We all had our first pomegranate recently at Grandma and Grandpa’s house and wanted to try it again at home.  We went big and bought the Costco 6 pack box and after a few viewings of an internet video we had success!  The boys loved eating them and especially picking the seeds directly out of the skin.

This same week Daddy decided he was ready for another attempt of coconut cracking.  Again the internet proved to lead us down the right path so we were able to enjoy both the coconut water and meat.

Undies Accessory

Nicholas loves to accessorize with scarves and hats.  Nicholas’ favorite accessory is by far Cooper’s undies.  He loves to wear them as hats and bracelets.  Some days Cooper will even join in on the fun.

Camano Island

Grandpa and Grandma’s house is so much fun!  How can a kid not love tons of games and toys at your fingertips with no waiting in line?  Having Nana there with us too was a super bonus.

Showing little brother the bowling ropes.

After many rounds of this grabber/claw game Cooper now needs you to push pretend buttons to get him to do things like get dressed.  At night with Daddy there is even a “go crazy” button that gets pressed once his jammies are on.  Cooper has added using his arms as claws/grabbers into his daily imagination play too.

There is even an old barber chair with a pretty incredible view.

The boys love reading time with Nana.

Uncle Brant

We were very lucky to get some bonus time with Uncle Brant tonight.  Brant was in town for a talk and we met up for dinner and a tour of the newly opened Amazon store at U Village.  He brought  “I will chomp you” for the boys.  It is Cooper’s absolute favorite.  He now runs around saying “I will chomp you, buster” (sounds too much like bast*rd).  When we go to friends houses he wants to chase them and grab them to play his “I will chomp you” game.
